The nail fungus can infect the pregnant woman considerably. There’s no current evidence that being pregnant puts women at higher risk for becoming infected with nail fungus but still cause of such a disease renders women in susceptible position.

Nail Fungus

The doctors recommend avoiding any infection while pregnancy, but if a nail fungal infection occurs, it is not likely to harm the fetus. Some of the treatments to get rid of the fungus may be unsafe for the fetus. The mothers should speak to the healthcare physician in order to find out the best course of treatment, if any, for nail fungus infection while pregnant. If the fungus is not painful or uncomfortable, it can be left until after pregnancy.

Deterrence is the best practice to implement during pregnancy. Wear proper and comfortable footwear and make sure to change your socks often and wear socks and shoes that are porous. The treatment options are limited as it can be extremely unsafe to go through a nail fungus treatment with baby in the womb. One should seek medical advice before attempting anything. The oral medication is not likely to be prescribed as it can be harmful to the liver, heart and even bone marrow, but there are safer organic treatments which can be carried out in the safety of home.
